MyURemote ↔ Epson Projectors

Official guide to configure and control compatible Epson projectors from MyURemote using the Epson ESC/VP.net / ESC/VP21 protocol. MyURemote communicates directly with the projector on your local network.

Contents

1. How it works

MyURemote communicates directly with the Epson projector on the local network.

The integration uses Epson’s ESC/VP.net network communication layer and ESC/VP21 projector commands.

  • The Epson projector is configured as a normal IP device in MyURemote.
  • Communication uses TCP port 3629.
  • MyURemote automatically establishes an ESC/VP.net session before sending projector commands.
  • If the projector requires a Monitor Password, MyURemote detects this automatically.
  • After successful authentication, the Monitor Password is stored for future connections.

2. Requirements

  • A compatible Epson projector with network control support.
  • The projector must be connected to your local network.
  • The IP address of the Epson projector.
  • TCP port 3629 must be reachable from the MyURemote device.
  • The MyURemote app and Epson projector must be able to communicate on the local network.

Tip: reserve the projector IP address in your router/DHCP configuration so that it does not change.

3. Configure the Epson projector in MyURemote

First add the Epson projector in the MyURemote Configuration Panel.

Select:

Brand: Epson
Product: Projector
Technology: IP
Device type: All devices IP Control (ESC/VP21 Protocol)

Under Network properties enter:

IP address: IP address of your Epson projector
Port: 3629

Example: 192.168.1.100:3629

4. Epson Monitor Password

Some Epson projectors require a Monitor Password before ESC/VP.net control is allowed.

MyURemote checks this automatically when it establishes the connection.

Important:
You do not need to enter the Monitor Password in the normal MyURemote device configuration. If authentication is required, MyURemote asks for it automatically.

When authentication is required, MyURemote displays:

Epson projector authentication

This Epson projector requires a Monitor Password.

Monitor Password:
[ ]

[ Save & Connect ]

Enter the same Monitor Password that is configured in the Epson projector. MyURemote first verifies the password with the projector. Only after successful authentication is the password stored.

5. Configure the Monitor Password on the Epson projector

If your projector requires authentication, configure a Monitor Password in the projector’s network settings.

On Epson projectors with the menu layout used during our testing:

Network
→ Network Settings
→ Monitor Password

Menu names can vary slightly between Epson models and firmware versions.

Tip: after changing the Monitor Password in the projector, MyURemote will request the new password the next time authentication fails.

6. First connection

MyURemote handles the ESC/VP.net connection automatically.

MyURemote connects to TCP port 3629
              ↓
Checks whether a Monitor Password is required
              ↓
No password required
              ↓
Connect directly
              ↓
Send ESC/VP21 command

Password required
              ↓
Load stored Monitor Password
              ↓
If no password is stored:
ask the user for the password
              ↓
Authenticate
              ↓
Send ESC/VP21 command

Once authentication has succeeded, MyURemote stores the Monitor Password and normally reconnects automatically without asking for it again.

MyURemote also maintains the ESC/VP.net TCP session when possible and automatically re-establishes it when the projector or network connection has closed the previous session.

7. Epson commands

Available commands depend on the selected Epson projector profile and on the commands supported by the projector itself.

Typical ESC/VP21 commands include:

  • Power On
  • Power Off
  • Power status feedback
  • HDMI input selection
  • Source selection
  • Menu
  • Back / Exit
  • Cursor Up / Down / Left / Right
  • Enter / OK
  • Lens Memory presets
  • Volume commands on supported models

Not every Epson projector supports every ESC/VP21 command. Unsupported commands are model dependent.

8. Using Epson in MyURemote macros

Epson projector commands can be included in normal MyURemote macros together with televisions, AV receivers, media players, lighting and other configured devices.

For example, a Watch Movie macro could:

  • Power on the Epson projector.
  • Power on the AV receiver.
  • Select the correct receiver input.
  • Select HDMI on the Epson projector.
  • Recall the required Epson Lens Memory position.
  • Dim or switch off the room lights.

Authentication is handled by the Epson extender itself, so the macro does not need to contain separate password or connection commands.

9. Troubleshooting

The projector does not respond

  • Verify the Epson projector IP address.
  • Verify that the configured port is 3629.
  • Make sure MyURemote and the projector can communicate on the same network.
  • Verify that network control is enabled on the projector.
  • Refresh/restart MyURemote after configuration changes.

MyURemote asks for a Monitor Password

The projector has reported that authenticated ESC/VP.net communication is required.

Enter the Monitor Password configured in the Epson projector’s network settings and press Save & Connect.

The Monitor Password was changed

If the stored password is genuinely rejected by the projector, MyURemote requests the current password again. Enter the new Monitor Password and reconnect.

Commands stop responding after the projector powers off

The projector can close its ESC/VP.net TCP session during shutdown or standby transitions.

MyURemote automatically detects a lost session and attempts to establish a new connection when another command or status query is sent.

Power On does not work while the projector is fully off

Network availability while the projector is in standby depends on the projector model and its standby/network configuration. Verify the network standby settings in the Epson projector.

A specific command does not work

ESC/VP21 command support varies between Epson projector models. Verify that the selected device profile and command are supported by your projector.

10. FAQ

What port should I use?

The MyURemote Epson ESC/VP.net integration uses TCP port 3629.

Does MyURemote use PJLink for Epson control?

No. This MyURemote Epson integration uses ESC/VP.net / ESC/VP21. PJLink is a separate projector control protocol.

Do I always need a Monitor Password?

No. MyURemote checks the projector automatically. If the projector allows an unauthenticated ESC/VP.net session, MyURemote connects directly. If authentication is required, MyURemote asks for the Monitor Password.

Do I need to enter the Monitor Password every time?

No. After successful authentication, MyURemote stores the password and normally reuses it automatically for future connections.

What happens if I change the password on the projector?

If the projector rejects the previously stored password, MyURemote requests the new Monitor Password and stores it after successful verification.

Is the password shown in the MyURemote debug log?

No. MyURemote does not print the Monitor Password in the Epson communication debug output.

Can Epson commands be combined with other devices in macros?

Yes. Epson projector commands can be combined with AV receivers, televisions, media players, lighting and other MyURemote devices in the same macro.

Do I need a special Epson zone?

No. The Epson projector is configured as a normal MyURemote AV device. It can be selected as the central device of a zone or added as another device in an existing zone.
