MyURemote ↔ Philips Hue
Official guide to configure and control Philips Hue lights from MyURemote. MyURemote communicates directly with the Hue Bridge on your local network.
Contents
1. How it works
MyURemote communicates directly with the Philips Hue Bridge on your local network. The Hue Bridge acts as the controller for all Hue lights connected to it.
- The Hue Bridge is configured as a device/controller in MyURemote.
- Individual Hue lights are configured on a Home Control page.
- MyURemote pairs once with the Hue Bridge and stores the authorization.
- After pairing, lights can be controlled from Home Control and from macros.
2. Requirements
- A Philips Hue Bridge connected to your local network.
- At least one light already configured in the Philips Hue app.
- The IP address of the Hue Bridge.
- The MyURemote app and Hue Bridge must be able to communicate on the local network.
Tip: reserve the Hue Bridge IP address in your router/DHCP configuration so that it does not change.
3. Configure the Hue device
First add a Philips Hue device in the MyURemote Configuration Panel.
Select:
Brand: Philips
Product: Other - Various
Technology: IP
Device type: HUE Lamp
Under Network properties enter:
IP address: IP address of your Hue Bridge
Port: 80
Example: 192.168.1.50:80
4. Important: create a Home Control zone
Philips Hue must also be configured on a MyURemote Home Control page.
This step is important because the Hue Bridge pairing procedure is started from the Home Control page.
The Pair Hue Bridge button is not shown on the normal Device or Macro configuration pages. It appears on the Home Control page when MyURemote detects that the Hue Bridge has not yet been paired.
- Create or open a Home Control zone.
- Create a group, for example Hue Control.
- Add a new element to that group.
- Select your previously configured Hue controller.
- Enter the Hue light number as the Domotics parameter.
- Save the element.
5. Hue Home Control parameters
A typical Hue light configuration looks like this:
Label: Living room Hue
Type: Dimmer
Controller: Your Hue controller
Domotics parameter: 1
Max value: 255
Domotics parameter
The Domotics parameter is the Hue light ID.
Hue light 1 → Domotics parameter: 1
Hue light 2 → Domotics parameter: 2
Hue light 3 → Domotics parameter: 3
The light ID is assigned by the Hue Bridge and is not the IP address of the individual light.
Max value
Use 255 for Hue light control. This allows MyURemote to use
the control as a dimmer as well as switch the light on and off.
6. Pair the Hue Bridge
Open the Home Control page in MyURemote.
If the Hue Bridge has not yet been authorized, MyURemote displays:
Philips Hue not paired
Press the LINK button on the Hue Bridge,
then click Pair.
[ Pair Hue Bridge ]
- Press the physical LINK button on top of the Hue Bridge.
- Immediately press Pair Hue Bridge in MyURemote.
- Wait for MyURemote to confirm the pairing.
- The authorization is stored and normally does not need to be repeated.
7. Using Hue in MyURemote macros
Once the Hue Bridge has been paired, Hue commands can also be included in normal MyURemote macros.
A macro can combine commands for devices from different zones. The Hue Home Control zone does not limit where the Hue controller can be used.
For example, a single Watch Movie macro could:
- Power on the television.
- Power on the AV receiver.
- Select the correct receiver input.
- Dim or switch off the Hue lights.
8. Troubleshooting
I cannot find the Pair Hue Bridge button
Pairing is performed from a Home Control page. It is not performed from the normal Device or Macro configuration page.
Create a Home Control zone, add a Hue element and open that Home Control page in MyURemote.
Pairing fails
- Verify the Hue Bridge IP address.
- Verify that the controller is configured on port
80. - Make sure the MyURemote device is connected to the same local network.
- Press the physical Hue Bridge LINK button immediately before pairing.
- Refresh/restart MyURemote after configuration changes.
The wrong light responds
Check the Domotics parameter. It must correspond to the correct Hue light ID.
Hue works in the Hue app but not in MyURemote
- Check the Hue Bridge IP address.
- Check port
80. - Verify that the bridge has been paired with MyURemote.
- Verify the Domotics parameter/light ID.
9. FAQ
Why do I need a Home Control zone?
The Home Control page is where MyURemote initializes Hue control and, when required, displays the Hue Bridge pairing interface.
What does the Domotics parameter mean?
It is the Hue light ID. For example, use 1 to control
Hue light 1.
What should I use for Max value?
Use 255 for Hue lights.
Can Hue commands be combined with AV commands?
Yes. After pairing, Hue can be included in MyURemote macros together with televisions, receivers, media players and other configured devices, even when they belong to different zones.
What port should I use?
The current MyURemote Philips Hue integration uses port 80.
What about HTTPS / port 443?
MyURemote is monitoring changes to Philips Hue local API connectivity. The supported MyURemote configuration documented on this page currently uses port 80. This documentation will be updated if that recommendation changes.
